Project type: Park Naturalization
Year: 2017
Season: Spring
Kaitlin, Brad, and Victoria were absolutely thrilled that over 85 volunteers came out to help increase woodland cover in their neighbourhood! It was our biggest planting of the year so far with nearly 100 volunteers and 400 trees! Our volunteers were very excited about the planting opportunity and had lots to say:
“We’re here from London Central School as a leadership retreat to try and inspire younger kids to take initiative,” said Natasha Lee & Mayuri Sothynatham.
While Natasha and Mayuri were there for leadership purposes, Jacklyn Shaw was there for more personal reasons, “I love being outdoors and planting trees. I hope I get a sycamore tree for my backyard on my birthday!”
Thank you everyone for all of your help and to Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area, Libro, and Fanshawe for bringing such awesome groups!
We would like to thank Ward 8 Councillor Paul Hubert for coming out to this event and to the City of London`s Park in Every Ward Project, to the Ontario 150 Community Celebration Program, and to TD Friends of the Environment for funding this project.
