For the final planting of the Fall 2022 season, it was a beautiful day to come together for the annual Interfaith Planting. The Interfaith Planting is an annual event that brings together many faiths in our community to celebrate diverse beliefs and their connection to the environment. With an incredible 66 volunteers, 256 new trees and shrubs were planted at Cresthaven Park on October 30th.
Participating Faith groups included:
- Christ the King University Parish/ King’s Campus Ministry
- London Sikh Society
- Trinity United Church
- St. James Westminster Church
- Or Shalom Congregation
- Al Mahdi Islamic Community Centre
- Temple Israel of London
- The Church of St. Jude
This has been an ongoing event for many years since starting in 2013 and one that is looked forward to by many. We are so grateful for those that supported and attended the Interfaith Planting and for our incredible speakers present that day.
“It is uplifting to meet with friends across faiths in creating a stronger, healthier community,” said Julie Ryan, Interfaith Planting Coordinator. “Over the past 9 years, we’ve planted thousands of trees all over London, sharing our common value of caring for the earth while we build relationships with each other.”
Tree planting is so crucial to the restoration of habitat and a healthier environment for our community. These new trees planted at Cresthaven Park are already contributing to a greener, leafier future.
A special thank you to the City of London and to all those who donated to make this event possible and to get more trees in the ground this Fall.
