Longworth Fruit & Nut Tree Depot - September 8, 2019

Project type:
Neighbourhood Re-Leaf
Year:
2019
Season:
Fall
Location:
Southwest

London loves fruit trees!  We joined Longworth Retirement Community on Sunday, September 8th for our first of two back-to-back fall Fruit & Nut Tree Depot events. Traditional orchard fruit trees were available, as well as native species that produce berries and nuts that can be eaten straight off the tree.

Thank you to every member of the line that stretched down the street for their patience while waiting to receive your trees.  We were delighted to see so many people’s eagerness for trees, and were gratified with the plans we heard for family events these trees would be part of. Over 200 fruit and nut trees found new homes and families to feed over the course of the day! We’ll be looking forward to all those spring blossoms, as well.

A big thank you goes out to the City of London’s Tree Me Tree Matching Fund for funding this event and making the city’s new home orchards and nut groves possible. Another thank you goes to Longworth Retirement Community for hosting this event that saw so much of our community gather together!
