Name: Skylar Franke

Autobiography: I am a graduating Social Justice and Peace Studies and French Studies student at King’s University College, where I am employed as a teaching assistant and peer tutor. I am very interested in local, sustainable food systems, gardening, the environment, craft beer, board games, politics and reading. My favourite game is a toss-up between Agricola and Munchkins, and I’m very competitive! I grew up in Georgetown, Ontario, and had parents who loved hiking on the Bruce Trail and taught me the intrinsic value of nature. My goal in life is to one day own a hobby farm and apiary, and build my own Earthship on that farm.

Reflections on Volunteering:
Volunteering gets me out in the community, meeting new people and helping build a better London. I volunteer because I love learning new skills and making new friends. I volunteer with ReForest London because I love the staff, the projects (who doesn’t like tree planting!?), learning about nature and helping the environment.
