Project type:
Greening our Schoolyards
Year:
2005
Season:
Spring
Location:
Northwest

April 28, 2005 and November 22, 2005

Over 50 Grade 8 students planted 25 trees and 75 dogwoods at Wilfrid Jury Public School. Despite the rain and cold, these students dug holes and planted their trees and shrubs with gusto! Grade 4 and Grade 6 students also helped to plant and mulch the trees and shrubs.

This project is part of a 5 year Naturalization Project that has planted over 100 trees around the school yard and created 4 gardens.

In the fall 2005, six large shade trees were planted around the two play structures.

Wilfrid Jury's many trees provides learning opportunities today and shade for the future.

Many people use the park and playground at the school.
