Walker Creek - Sept. 17, 2016
Walker Creek is an important naturalization site because of it's proximity to the waterway, as well as being the storm water overflow area. Planting trees here will reduce pollution, help control flooding and create valuable wildlife habitat. In addition to this, the site is adjacent to Enterprise SWM - another ReForest London naturalization site!
London Life volunteers proved to be as durable as ever, planting 366 native trees and shrubs in the rain with no complaints. RFL staff Kaitlin and Brad were astounded at how well this team worked together. Even with a lower-than-expected attendance, they pushed through and even stayed late to get the trees in the ground!
The site is looking great and will improve riparian habitat along Walker Creek. Great work everyone! Thank you to London Life for funding this project and for being our lead sponsor since 2009 - we couldn't have done it without you.
