TD Tree Days Plants Thousands!

Project type:
Million Tree Challenge
Year:
2013
Season:
Fall

TD Tree Days 2013TD Tree Days is TD’s flagship volunteer program, providing TD Employees, their families, TD customers and community partners the opportunity to demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship in their local communities.  Starting in September, thousands of volunteers will plant over 45,000 trees at more than 160 sites in Canada, the US, the UK, and Luxembourg.

“In September, TD proudly hosted TD Tree Days in London, one of over 140 community tree planting events across the country.  Now in its fourth year, TD Tree Days engages hundreds of employees, customers and community partners, like Girl Guides Canada, to plant trees together in London parks adding new tree canopy and habitat to the forest city,” said Yvette Scrivener Regional Manager TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. “This annual event, which is part of the TD Forest Program aims to grow urban forests in our local communities and help protect critical forests habitats across Canada.”
TD Tree Days 2013

Three TD Tree Days community tree planting events were hosted in London during September for  a total of 2015 new trees planted! All trees planted, in partnership with Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, will be counted toward London’s Million Tree Challenge.

On September 12th, 290 trees were planted by 50 TD employees at Heron Haven, off Sunningdale Rd. The morning of September 21st, 1150 trees were planted in Sovereign Woods by 200 TD employees and community volunteers including Girl Guides, and the afternoon of September 21st, 575 trees were planted at Mitches Park by 100 TD employees, community volunteers including Girl Guides and Ward 12 City Councillor Harold Usher.
