Stoneybrook Public School Depot – June 14

Project type:
Neighbourhood Re-Leaf

On Wednesday, June 14th, ReForest London set up a Tree Depot at Stoneybrook Public School. The Tree Depot took place during Stoneybrook’s fun fair. The students loved asking our volunteers questions about the trees and were especially excited to convince their parents to let them take home and plant a fruit tree. One mother came with her three young children and explained that last spring, she brought her first child to pick out a tree, last fall, she brought her second child to pick out a tree, and that day she was bringing her third child to pick out a tree – so that they could each grow up with their very own tree. Her daughter spent at least 20 minutes trying to choose between a Cortland Apple and a Freeman’s Maple and ultimately went with the Freeman’s Maple for its beautiful red leaves in the fall!

Thank you to the parents, students, teachers, and volunteers that came out to enthusiastically support the planting of trees!

Thank you to the City of London, Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Richard and Beryl Ivey Fund, a fund of London Community Foundation, and Healthy Kids Community Challenge for supporting our Tree Depots.
