Stoneybrook Heights-Upland Residents Association at Virginia Park

Project type:
Other
Year:
2006
Season:
Spring

Stoneybrook Heights-Uplands Residents Association members planted a trees and shrubs in the fall of 2005 and completed the project in the Spring of 2006. Over 100 trees and shrubs were planted by about 25 volunteers. The project includes the creation of a new naturalization area along the border of the park, shade trees around the playground, the creation of a butterfly meadow, and more plantings at Jack Chambers Public School and at the park in the spring.

Community funds for this project were provided primarily from RBC Royal Bank's Employee Recognition Program, in acknowledgement of Gloria McGinn-McTeer's volunteer efforts over the past 3 years. Funds were pledged to assist with planting more trees and creating butterfly habitat in Virginia Park. The Stoneybrook Heights-Uplands Residents Association, where McGinn-McTeer serves as President, also contributed to this project, and funds were then matched by ReForest London.
