South of Sarnia Road Blitz – June 4

Project type:
Neighbourhood Re-Leaf

On Sunday June 4th, ReForest London held a Blitz South of Sarnia Road. People from 37 different households received a tree, and a lot of people passing through Chesham Heights Park, to get exercise and walk their dogs, were happy to learn they could take a tree home with them. Many passersby came back later with their families to choose a tree together – the kids often know exactly what they want, when the parents are stuck between so many choices.

We heard a lot of feedback about rabbits in the area, and made sure we encouraged everyone to take a free tree collar with their tree, to protect the young trees from being eaten by a hungry rabbit!

If you’d like to learn more about how to care for trees or how to select the right species for the right spot, please consider taking our Tree Specialist or General Tree Care Trainings.

Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Richard and Beryl Ivey Fund, a fund of London Community Foundation, Healthy Kids Community Challenge, and TreeMe (City of London) for supporting our Tree Blitzes.
