SoHo Tree Blitz - September 18 2016

Project type:
Neighbourhood Re-Leaf
Year:
2016
Season:
Fall
Location:
Central

It was another beautiful Sunday in the SoHo neighbourhood as staff set up at the St, John French Immersion School on Hill Street. Our amazing volunteers joined us, eager to start planting trees and making the neighbourhood greener.

Tree Blitz volunteers loaded up their wagons with trees, mulch, and water buckets, ready to greet the residents. Volunteers offered to help plant trees for the SoHo residents, while providing information on how to properly plant and care for the trees, as well as the trees themselves.

Back at St. John French Immersion School, Tree Specialist volunteers and staff greeted residents interested in picking out their own tree to plant on their property. We were very excited to give away well over 100 trees for the SoHo neighbourhood.

These trees will go a long way to increasing the canopy cover in the area, and the volunteers can be very proud of themselves for having a hand in that. All of these trees planted today will help us reach our goal in the Million Tree Challenge.

Thanks again to our amazing volunteers to another wonderful Tree Blitz! Help releaf London by signing up to volunteer at some of our Fall Neighbourhood Tree Blitzes – together we can make a difference!

Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Richard and Beryl Ivey, a fund within the London Community Foundation, TreeMe and the City of London for being lead funders on this project.
