Richard B. Harrison Park - June 10, 2016

Project type:
Park Naturalization

Thanks to the support of Labbatt as a part of their World Environment Day initiatives, we had a GREAT day of planting at Richard B. Harrison Park along with volunteers from Columbia Sportswear, Thames River Rally and the surrounding community! London CAReS was also present to give a great presentation on safety.

Thanks to eager volunteer support we were able to plant a total of 164 native trees and shrubs in record time, including 20 large potted trees! The larger potted trees were planted along the path to provide more shade for park users. The new trees and shrubs will create a more enjoyable space for residents while providing a habitat for local wildlife and cleaning London’s air.

We'd like to thank all the volunteers for a fantastic day of planting, and also give a special thank you to Marjorie, Marta and Suzie for their wonderful Tree Specialist ambition, knowledge and charisma!

"This is actually our second park planting working with Labatt as a part of their World Environment Day efforts, following on an earlier project at Falls View Park," said Director of Programs, Amber Cantell. "We feel very fortunate to be working in a community with a true business leader like Labatt which really works to put the environment at the forefront of both their own business and their efforts within the community."

Thank you again to Labatt for funding this planting project to support World Environment Day, the United Nations' biggest day for environmental action!
