Notre Dame Public School and Springbank Park Depots– May 27

Project type:
Neighbourhood Re-Leaf

On Saturday, May 27th, ReForest London held two Tree Depots in two different neighbourhoods. It was a beautiful sunny morning when we set up at Springbank Park - joggers and soccer players were out in full force soaking up the sun. We partnered with the Byron Community Association, who set up a tent alongside us, to give out 169 free trees. Those that came were excited to see pawpaws available to take home with them! Pawpaws are a native fruit tree, with a tropical taste, said to resemble a mix between a mango and a banana. They went fast, but we still had over 15 other varieties of trees to choose from!

At the same time as the Springbank Depot, we held another tree giveaway at Notre Dame Public School that was equally successful and gave out 206 trees. Tulip, hazelnut and pawpaw trees were in high demand at this location!

Thank you to all of our volunteers at both locations! If you are interested in helping make London leafier, sign up to volunteer for a tree depot or tree blitz in the future. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to the City of London, Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Richard and Beryl Ivey Fund, a fund of London Community Foundation, and Healthy Kids Community Challenge for supporting our Tree Depots.
