Team Changes at ReForest London

ReForest London is building a strong and talented team

The last several months have brought many staff changes at Reforest London. With new and familiar faces, ReForest London is building a strong, talented team to focus on a full plate of tree-related activities in 2016 and beyond and to introduce exciting new programs to the London community.

After ten years of building and developing a relevant and accomplished environmental non-profit organization, Julie Ryan, ReForest London’s co-founder left her position as Director of Programs. With a desire for new challenges, Julie accepted a fundraising position at Western University. We wish you the greatest success in your new career direction, Julie!

Louise Hollingsworth’s Neighbourhood Tree Captain contract ended in December 2015, and she has moved on to other pursuits – we miss your enthusiasm and energy, Louise and wish you the very best in your future endeavours!

Amber Cantell, RFL’s Project Manager for five years, has moved into the role of Director of Programs and is busy filling some pretty big shoes, but is already doing so with finesse. As Project Manager for our naturalizations and aftercare programs, Amber completed over 100 ReForest London planting projects with the help of thousands of caring and dedicated Londoners who share her passion for trees.

Kaitlin Richardson has joined our staff as the new Project Manager for our naturalizations and aftercare programs. Kaitlin has worked in various roles in the environmental sector including Thames Talbot Land Trust, and City of London and comes to Reforest London with talent and enthusiasm to manage a big part of our tree planting.

Skylar Franke has left her positon as Community Engagement Coordinator to lead the new Neighbourhood ReLeaf project funded in part through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This is a huge project to plant thousands of new trees in people’s London properties with a focus on lower tree canopy areas. Skylar is excited with this lateral move that will combine all skills and make a real difference.

Katie Van Den Berg has re-joined ReForest London as the new Community Engagement Coordinator. Katie first started her journey with ReForest London as a volunteer back in 2008.  Katie was part of the Reforest London team from 2010 until 2012 as Special Projects Coordinator, and developed such programs as the Celebration Forest and the Million Tree Challenge. It’s great to have Katie back on the team in her new role.

Dean Sheppard, Sheila Creighton, Brianne Curry, Gabriele Sanio, Michelle Anderson and Brad Petovello are all diligently working away in their respective positions on the team, and are glad to welcome new and old faces to the ReForest London team. All this skill, experience, passion for the environment and the London community, gives ReForest London a winning combination that will make us even more effective at helping create a healthier and greener London through the benefits of trees.
