Neighbourhood Challenge

Calling all neighbourhoods!  London’s Million Tree Challenge challenges Londoners to plant one million trees over the next ten years. Phase one of the project is “One Tree for Every Londoner” in three years.

The Argyle neighbourhood is throwing down the tree planting challenge to all other neighbourhoods in London.  Supported by the Argyle Community Association, the Argyle BIA and the Seniors Neighbourhood Advisory Committee, they are committed to plant more trees than any other neighbourhood in London – will you accept the challenge?

Here is how to participate:

  1. A representative of your neighbourhood  registers to participate by completing this Neighbourhood Challenge registration form and emailing it to info@reforestlondon.ca. Neighbourhoods are defined by planning district; if you are unsure of your district, look it up here.
  2. Promote tree planting in your community. ReForest London can help with seedling give-aways, community tree sales.
  3. Encourage everyone to register their trees at www.milliontrees.ca.  Trees will be added to each neighbourhood’s count based on the address where the tree was planted. The final day to register trees planted this year is November 1.

The winner of this challenge will receive a park enhancement package including the expertise of a park planner to work with your neighbourhood group for an outcome that residents can enjoy and be proud of. The winning neighbourhood will be announced on November 12th, 2012.
