London Life Supports MTC

Despite a rainy forecast, more than 80 London Life employees and family members donated their Saturday morning to contribute to a healthier environment and a more beautiful roadway by planting trees. The rain held off as the participants worked diligently to plant over 450 trees and shrubs in a new naturalization area behind the London Life facility at 670 Sovereign Road. The planting is located along Veterans Memorial Parkway, a roadway dedicated to veterans. The project sets a good example for other industrial properties and contributes to ongoing efforts to beautify and green this thoroughfare.

Following a brief tree planting lesson, the enthusiastic volunteers set to work planting trees and protecting them with a thick ring of mulch and a tree collar. In less than 3 hours, the space was transformed from an open field to a young forest. Volunteers were rewarded for their hard work with an ice cream treat to celebrate and a free seedling to take home and plant in their own yards.

The planting marked the fourth year that London Life has been the Lead Sponsor of ReForest London. The project contributes to London’s Million Tree Challenge, an initiative launched last year to plant one million trees throughout the Forest City over 10 years.

Over the past four years, London Life employees and family members have planted almost 2,400 trees and shrubs in parks, yards, and now at their Sovereign Road facility. London Life is seeding a legacy that will grow and contribute to London for decades.
