London Knights Go Green with ReForest London

ReForest London teamed up with the London Knights to plant 400 native trees and shrubs at Fido Pottersburg Park. Fans were thrilled to be able to plant trees alongside the Knights players, who worked with kids to teach them how to plant, and signed autographs.

One fan requested that the Knights plant a tree in memory of priest who recently passed away. This man was a fan of the Knights, and enjoyed a game shortly before he died.

Irene Matheyssen, MP London Fanshawe helped to plant, along with a team of cadets from the #9 Army Cadet Unit, and members of the Thames Valley Trail Associations. Students from Central High, Saunders Secondary School, and South also planted many trees and earned volunteer hours.

The planting site is part of Pottersburg Park, where many people use the off-leash dog park. We planted along a natural terrace in an open field that was likely originally cleared for agriculture and was at one time used as an orchard. In planting 400 small trees and shrubs, we begin the long process of returning this land to a forest.
