A leafy embrace to social media

ReForest London is embracing social media to help connect with the London community and abroad.

Social networking is growing more and more popular and is new way to connect with groups, individuals and organizations. In 2009, with the generous donation of rTraction website services, ReForest London got a new look and usability to our website. We had much success with our Amazing Tree Quest, and utilized Facebook as a means to promote the event, share tree stories, tree planting events and pictures. ReForest London had fun creating a new video with Wizards of Video who donated their services. The video shared the stories of three people who choose to donate with ReForest London and we posted it on our website and YouTube.

New in 2010, ReForest London is now on Twitter, tweeting about our upcoming events, programs, news, volunteering opportunities, ways to get involved in the community and more. We are also tweeting about fun tree facts, interesting tree books and stories, trees in the news, local community events with a nature focus and global efforts on urban forestry. ReForest London is connecting and sharing stories with individuals, community groups, non-profit organizations, environmental enthusiasts, and urban forest groups across Canada and the world with the use of Twitter and Facebook.

With thanks to rTraction, ReForest London now has links on our website so people can find us on Twitter and Facebook, as well as use the Addthis sharing button tool. The Addthis button is the smartest sharing tool that allows visitors to our website to share content to their popular social media services like Facebook, Twitter, Email, Digg, Delicious, MySpace, Google, Live and hundreds more. Leading the way to social media for ReForest London is, Katie Van Den Berg the newest member of the team. Social media is in most cases free, easy to use, widely accessible, and is a new way to stay connected, share ideas, news, information and stories. If you haven't already, you should follow us on Twitter and become our fan on Facebook.
