Fanshawe Bookstore Gives Up Plastic Bags for Trees

Retail Services at Fanshawe College have implemented two new green-friendly programs to help reduce the use of plastic bags and encourage the use of re-fillable water bottles.

By policy, cashiers always ask each customer if a bag is required. Under the new program, when a customer declines, a token is placed into a ReForest London collection box. For each token, Fanshawe will donate 5 cents toward re-treeing efforts.

In addition, the clothing store at Fanshawe set up a refill station for water bottles. Users of the station are ask to make a small donation. The funds collected in this project were also donated to ReForest London.
