Ivey MBA Class of 2007

Project type:
10,000 Trees for the Medway

Richard Ivey School of Business Class of 2007

April 25 and May 7, 2007

Rain and smiles were part of the launch of the Ivey 10,000 Trees for the Medway Valley project. The project will plant 10,000 trees over the next 3 years along the Medway Creek beginning at the mouth of the Medway at the Thames River north to the city limits at the Sunningdale Golf Course.

Ivey students planted the first trees on April 25at the playing field at Westminster College, just off Windermere Road. An additional group of incoming business students planted more in May. In total, 1,000 trees were planted toward this project.

Brent Hutzal, MBA student and Executive Director of Ivey Connects, a student organization that organizes community outreach, originally approached ReForest London to do a project on the Western campus. After taking the 10,000 trees concept to the Class Gift Committee, the students voted overwhelmingly to sponsor the project as their class gift. The Class of 2007 has pledged $20,000 towards the project.
