Fox Hollow Ravine North - Sept. 9, 2017

Project type:
Park Naturalization
Year:
2017
Season:
Fall

Orientation Serves (UWO) and the community came together with a total of 138 volunteers to plant 481 native trees and shrubs in under 2 hours! Fox Hollow Ravine and all of its wildlife friends thank you for the new baby forest.

We've been working with volunteers from Western Serves (now Orientation Serves) since 2007, making this our tenth year of collaboration. The busloads of new Western students who came to help at the Fox Hollow planting more than proved the old adage - "many hands make light work"! Students joined volunteers from the community to plant hundreds of trees, learn about their importance to the environment (and, for this site in particular, water quality, as the planting took place along Snake Creek, a tributary of the much larger Medway Creek) and how they can get more involved in caring for London's natural heritage.

We hope to see you all again next fall! Thank you to the Government of Canada's EcoAction Program, Ontario150 Community Celebration Program and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation for funding this project.
