Ashwood Manor

Project type:
Park Naturalization

We had an amazing time planting with Teen Challenge Farm at Ashwood Manor as a part of this year's Lambeth Harvest Festival! We were also joined by new students in the Masters of Environment and Sustainability program at Western University, students at the London International Academy and many members of the London community - thank you all so much for your help!

This was a very special project for us, inspired by the Celebration Forest in Westminster Ponds, to create a new "Lambeth Rotary Forest" at Ashwood Manor which will create a legacy forest for the residents there. Funding and additional support for the project was provided by the City of London through their TreeMe program, Westminster Township Historical Society, and Rotary.
Saturday's event saw the installation of 140 native trees along a tributary of Dingman Creek, as well as 5 new caliper trees installed by Little Creek Tree Farm on the landscaped portion of the Ashwood property in the week leading up to the event.
An extra special thank you goes out to long-time
ReForest London volunteer and community organizer extraordinaire Geoff Faul for making this project come together, to Kathleen Hobden of Ashwood Manor for supporting this vision of a legacy forest on their property and coordinating a fantastic celebration afterwards, and to Teen Challenge's director Mark Pope for bringing such a terrific group of volunteers to help us. You three are an inspiration to our community!
